It's always a pleasure to see checkerbloom return from its dormant stage in early spring.
This showy perennial thrives in sun or part-shade, including under oaks. Growing 12" to 14" tall, it has bright pink flowers on upright stems and blooms March-May. Glossy green leaves set off the blooms. Goes well with blue-eyed grass, Douglas iris and peppermint candy flower.
