Phalaris californica, California Canarygrass

An interesting and unusual native bunchgrass with a graceful bamboo-like appearance. Found along the coast in openings in evergreen woodland and coastal scrub, canarygrass is vigorous but not too much so. Grows to 4" tall with an upright habit, and 1-2' wide.
