The color and fragrance of this shrub signify "California." Silky finely-dissected leaves of a soft pale silvery gray-green-blue, have a spicy, warm fragrance. Likes full sun and good drainage, but this adaptable shrub can handle a bit of late day shade. 3-5' tall and equally wide. It is found in chaparral and coastal scrub plant communities. The bark is used for nestmaking and the leaves in baking, in teas and "waters."
The leaves are a good ingredient of a "Chaparral Potpourri" with other Artemisias. Once a popular item, we will soon be making our Artemisia tincture available again.
