Twila Newey

Twila Newey is a plantswoman, professional gardener, and native plant consultant, who draws upon her formal training as a UC Certified Naturalist and her extensive experience with California native plants to provide a nature-led approach to California native garden consulting and design.

Twila currently works at Larner Seeds, where she collaborates on plant-community informed design, gathers and cleans native plant seed, propagates plants from seed, and tends the demonstration garden. Prior to working at Larner Seeds, she interned at two bay area native plant nurseries – East Bay Wilds and The Watershed Nursery. She has also volunteered on bay area native plant restoration projects.

In addition to her formal training and professional experience, Twila has sought out the knowledge gifted to plantswomen and wanderers. Following in the footsteps of great matriarchs like Judith Larner Lowry and Lester Rowntree, Twila has spent countless hours reading about California native plants, hiking, observing, and wandering through native California landscapes and native plant communities – learning what can be known only by communing directly with the plants and the animals and the earth herself.

She looks forward to sharing her training, knowledge, and experience with you.

Service Area: Marin, Contra Costa, Solano, Southern Napa, Southern Sonoma.
