Ribes sanguineum var. glutinosum

Deciduous shrub long-used in the garden for its delightful spring bloom of pendant flower clusters in shades of pink. It provides winter bloom, beginning to flower just as Allen's hummingbird returns from Baja, California in February. Its large leaves resemble maple leaves and they turn lovely shades of gold in early fall. It is tolerant of sun or part-shade and can be used to light up a woodland garden. It grows to about 5' tall and 4' wide.

Tolerant of sun or part-shade, pink flowering currant reseeds freely throughout the garden. Its juicy, deep blue to almost black berries are edible though sometimes somewhat puckery. It is a great berry crop for birds, who will then plant the seeds for you!
