Lupinus succulentus, Arroyo Lupine
Lupinus succulentus
This blue-to-purple wildflower grows from 2' to 3' tall. It casts a bluish haze over hills in early spring, and is one of the most reliable annual lupines. It likes sun and drought and can tolerate heavier soil than other annual lupines.
Arroyo lupine is a larval food plant and the tallest and sturdiest of the annual blue lupines. Use it in the back of the flower border.
