Hemizonia congesta ssp. luzulifolia, White Hayfield Tarweed
Hemizonia congesta ssp. luzulifolia, White Hayfield Tarweed
This white flowered, daisy-like cousin to the traditionally yellow flowered tarweed is a pleasure to behold. It is an upright, fragrant, flowering annual herb with hairy silver foliage at the base, and typically stands 1'-3' tall. It prefers the hotter California climates and open sunny locations. Blooming through summer and fall, it is found in the wild grasslands of coastal ranges and in the Central Valley, and can often be whiffed in the wind on a hot summer day.
