Baccharis pilularis, Coyote Brush
Variable shrub from 3-8' tall with rich green leaves and intricate silvery branches. Crucial habitat for many wild creatures. Drought-tolerant, deep-rooted. Takes to pruning, and can be cut to the ground when it begins to look scraggly, every three to five years.
Coyote brush can be quite showy in November when in full bloom. Its shiny white female flowers (the male plants have yellow flowers) often cover the bush, making it look like a fluff-ball. Seed begins to be available in November.
