Annual Wildflowers
Annual wildflowers are a beautiful and fascinating part of California’s landscape. Though severely impacted by development and invasive species, wild displays of wildflowers can still be found throughout the state. Some wildflower fields in nature grow with individual species in "swathes," with areas from 5' to 20' across!! Understanding their ecology is an important part of a California gardener’s education. Include California's wildflowers in your garden, for your own delight, to deepen your experience of this complex phenomenon, and for the insects and birds that co-evolved with them.
All of our annual wildflower species are offered in packet sizes, which will cover an area 3'x 3', at minimum. We also offer some species in bulk, from ounces to pounds, as noted in individual listings. For more information, see our More Info page. Or, if you would like a hard copy that dives into much more detail, we offer Notes on Growing California Wildflowers in our "Notes on Natives" series, found in our Books menu item.
