Dichelostemma congestum

Fork-toothed Ookow or snake lily, Dichelostemma congestum, is a native bulb, a member of the group known as "Indian potatoes" for their edible bulbs. It grows from California to B.C., in open sunny prairies and grasslands. Its colors are variable, from lavender to purple-pink.

An easy-to-grow bulb, it may require protection in an area with a large gopher population. It makes a good cut flower and is beautiful in masses.
