Eriogonum fasciculatum
Also known as the eastern Mojave buckwheat, this dicot is a shrub which has a variable appearance, and  is native to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico, where it grows on scrubby slopes and in chaparral and dry washes in a number of habitats. This species is attractive to a wide variety of pollinators, particularly to honey bees (Apis mellifera) and is a good source of nectar over many months in dryer areas. First flowering white in the spring, the flower buds turn a beautiful rusty color as they ripen in the summer.
